By taking this class, you will create a strong foundation in communication and training that will empower you to build new behaviors and address potential problems long after you have completed this course.

This is the class for you if you want a dog that:

This class will cover the essential skills necessary to pass your Canine Good Citizen test. This evaluation is specially formulated to assess the skills of dogs and handlers required for responsive dog ownership. In addition to developing critical practical skills that allow owners to enjoy increased freedom with their dogs, participants will learn skills that clarify communication and therefore strengthening the human-animal bond between dog and handler.

"CGC is a ten-skill training program that's open to all dogs-purebred and mixed breed-that focuses on teaching the basics of good manners and obedience, instilling the values of responsible ownership, and strengthening the bond between you and your dog at home and out in the community.

After mastering the ten skills, passing the CGC test together, and taking the Responsible Dog Ownership pledge, you and your pup will join the proud ranks of over 1 million dogs who have earned their Canine Good Citizen Award - accomplishment that's definitely worthy of extra belly rubs!" - The American Kennel Club CGC Website

The Fundamentals of a Great Relationship Ad.png

This is not your average basic obedience class. Through this course you will learn how to lay critical foundation skills in communication that will set you and your dog up for success through the entirety of your lives together.

Being a great dog owner is more than just knowing how to get your dog to do tricks. Sit, down, and stay are all great tools to help on your dog training journey, but this class will offer something much deeper. At Summit K9, we believe in taking a holistic approach to training that takes into account your lifestyle and your relationship with your pet. This means that our classes focus not only on teaching behaviors and training techniques, but teaching you how to fold training into everyday life with your dog.

By taking this class, you will create a strong foundation in communication and training that will empower you to build new behaviors and address potential problems long after you have completed this course.

During this class, professional trainer Alexandrea Underwood will give you the knowledge to better your relationship with your dog, no matter their age. This course will take a deep dive into how dogs learn, how to communicate with your dog, how to motivate your dog to volunteer the behaviors that you want and ditch the ones you don't, and ultimately, how you can become your dog's best friend!

Reactivity Reboot (2).png

6 Classes
Working Spot: $415
Audit Spot: $300

SUNDAYS | 6:00pm - 8:00pm
MAY/JUNE CLASS 5/8, 5/15, 5/22, 6/5, 6/19*, 6/26*
JULY/AUGUST CLASS 7/17, 7/24, 7/31, 8/7, 8/14*, 8/21*

Location: Savvy Dog Sports, Honeoye Falls
*Last 2 classes will be held in a local public park*
(Specific location to be announced)

Are your dog walks frequently interrupted by barking and lunging episodes while on leash? Ever been driven bananas by a dog barking out of the window or across a fence? Does your dog bark at new people, other dogs, cars, squirrels, or any other common place things in their environment?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, then you likely have first hand experience with a reactive dog, or own one currently. Reactivity is a broad term, and can encompass an extremely wide range of behaviors and causes. Reactivity can have vastly different core problems, from overexcitement to fearfulness, depending on the dog. Because of this, reactivity rehabilitation work often requires customized and often long term training. No two reactive dogs are exactly the same, so it is important to understand where the reactivity is coming from and the factors involved in order to effectively address the issue in the long term.

During this class, we will dive deeply into what reactivity is, the different types of reactivity, what can create reactivity, and approaches that we can take to address it.

Reactivity is a complex topic, and through a deeper understanding, owners can begin to meet their dogs' needs and find solutions that improve their dog's emotional well being, their dog's general health, and their relationship with their dog.

This is a JUDGEMENT FREE class. Owning a reactive dog can feel stressful, embarrassing, and even scary. If you are experiencing reactivity with your dog, this is not a reflection on your character or your qualifications as a dog owner. Through this class, you will receive support and new strategies to find what works best for you and your dog. Our approach is not one size fits all, and will be individualized to meet your specific needs. You will also have the opportunity to connect with others struggling with similar issues!

Registrants that are accepted into Working Spots will be invited to bring their dogs. We will introduce exercises specific to where each dog is in their training journey, and to demonstrate the variety of approaches that we recommend based on the individual dog. Participants that register for Auditing Spots will be in the perfect position to watch and learn, and will leave with many new tools that they can work on with their dogs at home!

Note that each dog will be set up for success based on where they are in their training journey. This class will run seminar style, meaning that dogs will take turns in the training room or work in small groups, depending on their current training goals and their needs. Some dogs will work for very short sessions and others for longer, based on what will serve each dog best. We are looking for quality of training time, rather than quantity.

Practice team building and grow confidence with out upcoming  Teamwork Through Trick Training Class!

Test your skills and practice creative problem solving during this fun filled course. Aside from just having a great time with your dog, trick training can offer benefits far beyond your sessions. For many dogs, this kind of work helps build stronger bonds between owner and handler, and will improve communication skills on both ends. Though we will be focusing on less "functional" obedience skills, most owners notice significant improvement in their dog's overall behavior and responsiveness through this kind of low pressure work! Your dog will gain confidence and learn to dive into challenges with enthusiasm through this interactive course.

During the final class, participants will have the opportunity to be evaluated for their  Novice Trick Title by CGC Evaluator and Head Trainer, Devan Blazey.

By taking this class, you will create a strong foundation in communication and training that will empower you to build new behaviors and address potential problems long after you have completed this course.

This is the class for you if you want:

  • To build your dog training skills to collaborative work with your dog.

  • To continue to foster better communication with your dog.

  • To build your dog's confidence when faced with novel environments and objects.

  • To test your skills through a formal evaluation process and earn titles.

  • To  prove to your friends and family just how smart your pup is through flashy tricks!
